Hot Water Repairs & Replacements
No hot water or a leaking unit is one of the most disruptive plumbing failures in a home. We repair and replace electric hot water systems, handle emergency replacements, replace tempering and PTR valves, and test and check existing units so you know exactly where you stand before any work happens.

What this service covers
Hot water problems always seem to happen at the worst possible time. We work on electric hot water systems, including repairs, part replacements and full unit changeovers. Joseph can usually diagnose the issue quickly, explain whether a repair or replacement is the best value, and get your hot water back on the same day where possible. We also handle tempering valve and PTR valve replacements, which are important for both safety and compliance.
Signs you may need this service
- No hot water or not enough hot water
- Hot water running out much faster than usual
- Leaking or pooling water around the base of the unit
- Rumbling, popping or hissing noises from the tank
- Hot water temperature that is too hot or inconsistent
- Rusty or discoloured hot water coming from the tap
What to expect
- We inspect the unit, check power supply, elements, thermostats and valves.
- You get a clear recommendation on repair versus replacement with upfront pricing.
- For replacements, we can often swap like for like the same day.
- Tempering and PTR valves are checked and replaced if needed for safety and compliance.
- The system is tested and left clean and tidy before we finish.
Electric hot water repairs and replacements
Most homes across Sunnybank, Eight Mile Plains, Kuraby and Logan run electric storage hot water — typically a 125L to 315L Rheem, Dux, Rinnai or Thermann tank in the garage, laundry or on a slab outside. We repair thermostats, elements, tempering valves and PTR valves, and when the tank itself has gone we replace it like-for-like, usually the same day.
A leaking tank is not repairable — once the cylinder has corroded through it needs replacing. A unit that is 10–12 years old with a fault is usually better value to replace than repair, and we'll tell you straight which one you're looking at.
What a hot water replacement costs on the southside
Guide only
As a guide, a like-for-like electric storage replacement including the unit, new valves, delivery, install and removal of the old tank typically lands in the low-to-mid $2,000s for a 250L unit, less for smaller tanks; repairs such as an element or thermostat are usually a few hundred dollars. Every job is quoted in writing before we start, so the number you approve is the number you pay.

Hot Water Systems questions we hear from Brisbane customers
Can you replace a hot water system the same day?+
In most cases yes. For standard electric hot water systems we can usually source and install a like-for-like replacement on the same day across Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
Should I repair or replace my hot water system?+
It depends on the age of the unit and the fault. As a general guide, if the tank itself is leaking or the unit is past 10 years old, replacement is usually better value than repair. We give you an honest recommendation before any work starts.
Do you replace tempering and PTR valves?+
Yes. Tempering valves and PTR (pressure temperature relief) valves are important for safety and compliance. We test and replace them as part of hot water repairs and installs.
What brands of electric hot water systems do you work on?+
We work on all common electric hot water brands including Rheem, Dux, Rinnai, Thermann and more.
Do you replace hot water systems in Logan as well as Brisbane's southside?+
Yes — Springwood, Underwood, Daisy Hill, Shailer Park and Slacks Creek are on our regular run from Kuraby, and same-day replacement is usually possible.
Can you replace a heat pump or gas unit with electric?+
We work on electric storage systems. If you have a gas or heat-pump unit we can assess it and advise on the best replacement path, including whether a like-for-like electric changeover suits your home.
